چکیده

The authors regret that in our article the data for 2,4-dichlorophenol (CAS 120-83-2) need to be corrected. In Table 1 the corrected BAF of 2,4-dichlorophenol is 38 L/kgwet weight, the corrected MEFM1 (2,4-dichlorophenol-sulfate) is 1935 L/kgwet weight, and the corrected MEFM2 is 129 L/kgwet weight. In Table 2 the corrected model parameters (with 95% confidence intervals) for 2,4-dichlorophenol are 6815 (0; 62871) L × kg−1 × d−1 for kin_parent, 156 (0; 1594) d −1 for kout_parent, 21.27 (0; 48.6) d −1 for kmet1, 0.415 (0.34; 0.49) d −1

Significance of Xenobiotic Metabolism for Bioaccumulation Kinetics of Organic Chemicals in Gammarus pulex

Bioaccumulation and biotransformation are key toxicokinetic processes that modify toxicity of chemicals and sensitivity of organisms. Bioaccumulation kinetics vary greatly among organisms and chemicals; thus, we investigated the influence of biotransformation kinetics on bioaccumulation in a model aquatic invertebrate using fifteen (14)C-labeled organic xenobiotics from diverse chemical classes...

Uptake, biotransformation and elimination of selected pharmaceuticals in a freshwater invertebrate measured using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry

Methods were developed to assess uptake and elimination kinetics in Gammarus pulex of nine pharmaceuticals (sulfamethazine, carbamazepine, diazepam, temazepam, trimethoprim, warfarin, metoprolol, nifedipine and propranolol) using targeted LC-MS/MS to determine bioconcentration factors (BCFs) using a 96 h toxicokinetic exposure and depuration period. The derived BCFs for these pharmaceuticals di...

Effects of two PBDE congeners on the moulting enzymes of the freshwater amphipod Gammarus pulex.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are abundant in aquatic environment. However, only few studies have investigated their impacts on freshwater invertebrates. This work aimed to study the effects of BDE-47 and BDE-99 congeners on the chitobiase and chitinolytic enzymes activities of the freshwater amphipod Gammarus pulex, according to gender, PBDE concentration and time of exposure. In addi...

Essential metal contents in indigenous gammarids related to exposure levels at the river basin scale: metal-dependent models of bioaccumulation and geochemical correlations.

Biomonitoring, assumed to be an integrative measurement of the chemical exposure of aquatic organisms, is not straightforward for essential metals because they can be actively regulated by animals. Although increasing bioaccumulation with exposure levels is a crucial endpoint for the development of biomonitors, it is rarely verified in real environments, where the metal concentrations are rathe...

Abnormalities in sexual development of the amphipod Gammarus pulex (L.) found below sewage treatment works.

Increasing numbers of widely used industrial, agricultural, and natural chemicals are known to elicit endocrine-disrupting effects in a wide range of vertebrate and invertebrate species. The objective of this study was to determine whether the sexual development of the freshwater crustacean Gammarus pulex (L.) was affected below sewage treatment works (STW) previously known to contain endocrine...
